International Children’s Games Speaking Appearance – Okanagan College, Kelowna BC
November 4, 2015 @ 4:45 pm - 6:30 pm
The International Children’s Games (ICG) is an International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event held every year (and every two years for the Winter Games) since 1968. Athletes from cities around the world, between the ages of 12 and 15, participate in a variety of sports and cultural activities at the Games.
The City of Kelowna hosted the 5th International Children’s Winter Games from January 26 to 31, 2011. This was the first time that the Winter Games had been hosted outside of Europe. The sports of hockey and short track speed skating were introduced at those Games. The Kelowna Games were a tremendous success. Kelowna has continued our ICG legacy by sending 228 young athletes and coaches to IC Games in Kelowna, Scotland, South Korea, Russia, Windsor, Ontario, Lake Macquarie, Australia and Alkmaar in the Netherlands.
The Okanagan College in Kelowna B.C., in association with the International Children’s games will be hosting an event on Wednesday, November 4th with Keynote Speaker Leah Goldstein. Internationally renowned professional cyclist, World Kickboxing Champion, and Israeli Undercover Police Agent, Leah Goldstein will share her fascinating story, which is not about being fearless but about being unstoppable. From crashes to podiums, and fear to triumph – Leah will give a glimpse of what’s truly possible from a life without limits!
