SUMMARY:Leah Goldstein Guest Cyclist in Ride for KCC.
DESCRIPTION:The Ride for KCC is an amazing fund raiser to help support children with disabilities and their families.\n\nI’m honoured to be invited as a guest rider this year in the Kayla’s Children’s Centre Ride for KCC. Kayla’s Children’s Centre is a school\, therapy clinic\, and recreational centre for children ages 6 weeks to 21 years old with disabilities\, behavioural challenges\, and complex needs. It’s a blessing to so many children and their families.\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThis year’s ride is in Memory of Eli Marder. Eli was a family man and KCC was part of his family. Over the years\, he contributed to KCC significantly; not only with personal financial support\, but also by taking the golf tournament to new levels—bringing in event sponsors\, attendees\, and friends. Nothing stopped ELi from ensuring the success of the event. He truly believed in KCC’s mission\, and it was evident in his involvement that he took great pride in and responsibility for his work. \nEli dedicated many years to KCC. Through his efforts\, hundreds of children with disabilities and their families live better lives. It is with heavy hearts and pride that this year’s Ride for KCC is dedicated in memory of Eli. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe 2024 event begins on Sunday\, September 8th with 3 options and tentative ride times:\n\n\n\n7:00am – 100km\n8:30am – 50km\n9:45am – 26km\n\n\n\n\n\nI will be riding the 100km ride this year!\n\n\n\n\nLooking forward to meeting you all on September 8th\, so be sure to register at:\n\nhttps://kcc.akaraisin.com/ui/rideforkcc2024/moveathon\n\n\n\n#rideforkcc #RideForACause #charityride #kaylaschildrenscentre

SUMMARY:HooDoo500 Ultra Endurance Cycling Race
DESCRIPTION:The HooDoo500 Ultra Endurance Cycling Race!\nThat HOODOO Ultra Endurance Cycling race is some kinda VOODOO! Here’s why… \nI can’t get it outta my head! \nThe Planet Ultra HooDoo500 starts for me this Saturday\, August 24th at 5am. I left home yesterday for St. George\, Utah. \nThis is the race I did last year where I crashed. I was also very sick before the race so it was a disaster before I even started. \nAfter doing the 100% self supported @transambikenonstop in June\, I’m feeling like I’m\nready for another ultra endurance cycling challenge and will be riding Hoodoo as a “Voyager” self supported cyclist. \nI hold the women’s record at 37hrs but that’s with a crew. It will be interesting to see the difference with no crew. \nThis course is incredibly hilly and also breathtakingly beautiful. One of the other reasons it’s got such a hold on me! \nNot a single inch of the route is repeated. The scenery is amazing. The route goes through\, around or by three National Parks: Zion\, Bryce and Capitol Reef; three National Monuments: Pipe Springs\, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Cedar Breaks; countless Utah state parks. ⛰️ \nOther than the very short stretches of road getting in and out of St. George and Cedar City\, and the ten or so miles before Panguitch\, traffic on the route is virtually non-existent. \nRoad conditions are awesome! Utah takes amazing care of their roads and pavement! \nThe heat can be an issue\, but Sat & Sun are slated for 31 and 32\, which is cooler than they weather I experienced at the TransAm Nonstop\nRace in June. \nOnce again\, I want to send out massive thanks to my amazing sponsors… I couldn’t do this without you! \nKHS Bicycles \, Vision \, FULL SPEED AHEAD\, Kenda Tires USA \, D·CURVE OPTICS\, HAMMER NUTRITION \, Pactimo \, Epic Ride Weather and Shimano-Road. I feel very lucky working with the best in the industry. \n  \nUPDATE HooDoo500 Ultra Endurance Cycling Results:\nLeah Goldstein: 1st Place Voyager Female\, smashing the course record by over 8 hours; 3rd place Voyager overall\, World Ultra-Cycling Association North American Solo Self-Supported Female Champion. 39 hours 41 minutes.

SUMMARY:TransAm Bike NonStop Self Supported Cycling Race
DESCRIPTION:Self Supported Cycling – TRANS AM BIKE NONSTOP \nTHE PREMIER SELF SUPPORTED CYCLING  RACE ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. OREGON TO WASHINGTON D.C./VIRGINIA. JUNE 2nd\, 2024. \nLeah Goldstein and riders from around the world will take place in this incredible SELF SUPPORTED cycling feat\,  pedaling their bikes from Coast to Coast. No entry fee\, no prize money. Unlike the 3000 mile Race Across America Leah won the overall title to in 2021\, the TransAmBike Nontop race in completed unsupported: 100% without any crew support. \n  \nMessage from Leah: \n\nThe Trans Am Bike Nonstop cycling race is a 4200 mile (6800km) route which runs from Astoria\, Oregon to the Atlantic coast and has 2 finishing options: Yorktown\, Virginia and Washington\, DC. \n\n\n\nWhat makes this race incredibly difficult\, is that it is unsupported. I can’t have any assistance from family\, friends\, or other racers. That means I’m responsible for navigation\, bike repair\, food\, and accommodation. Very different from the RAAM races that I’m accustomed to.\n\n\n\nI’m very excited to take on this new challenge. I am working with an incredible coach; Greg Grandgeorge from Tri2Max coaching T2MCoach.\nTwo of George’s athletes made the Trans Am podium\, coming in 1st and 2nd so\, I know I’m in good hands.\n\n\n\n\n\nMy sponsors have been incredibly supportive and I can’t thank them enough:\nKHS Bicycles \, Vision \, FULL SPEED AHEAD\, Kenda Tires USA \, D·CURVE OPTICS\, HAMMER NUTRITION \, Pactimo \, Epic Ride Weather and Shimano-Road. I feel very lucky working with the best in the industry.

SUMMARY:Race Across America 2023 #4 for Goldstein
DESCRIPTION:Race Across America is one of the most respected and longest running ultra-endurance events in the world. RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community as well.\nFor 41 years\, Race Across America (RAAM) has been challenging ultra cyclists from around the globe to push their physical and mental limits to the farthest reaches. Starting in Oceanside\, under one of the longest piers in California\, RAAM spans over 3000 miles\, climbs 175\,000 feet\, crosses 12 states\, and finishes at City Dock in Annapolis\, Maryland\, the east coast sailing mecca. \nThe route travels west to east\, traversing three major mountain ranges (Sierra\, Rocky and Appalachian)\, crosses four of America’s longest rivers (Colorado\, Mississippi\, Missouri and Ohio) and the Great Plains.  Also\, passing through such iconic American landmarks as the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts\, Monument Valley\, Great Plains\, and Gettysburg. \nJoin Leah Goldstein as she attempts to set a record for the women’s solo time division. \nThis is Leah’s 4th Race Across America ride.\nLeah Goldstein may have started life as—true story—a martial artist turned world champion kickboxer turned Israeli secret police turned pro cyclist\, but her latest claim to fame is winning Race Across America (RAAM) in the overall solo division on June 26\, 2021. At 52 years old\, the ultra-endurance athlete won the overall solo division\, she beat every solo man as well. \nBe sure to follow along via Live Tracking as Leah attempts another record breaking ride!

SUMMARY:Race Across America 2020
DESCRIPTION:Race Across America 2020 \n The World’s Toughest Bicycle Race\nOn Tuesday\, June 16\, RAAM 2020’s solo riders will start from the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside\, California (the teams start on Saturday\, June 20). \nStart: Oceanside\, California\, at the Oceanside Pier\nFinish: Annapolis\, Maryland\, at the City Dock \nDistance: 3000 miles \nProjected 2020 Race Start Dates\nSOLO Start: Tuesday\, June 16\, 2020\nTEAM Start: Saturday\, June 20\, 2020 \nAt 51 Years old\, Leah Goldstein has come out of retirement to challenge the Race Across America overall record. Leah came in first in RAAM in 2011 in the female singles division.  \nAbout The Race \nRacers come from all over the world and all walks of life. Racers are both amateurs and professionals. The majority are ordinary people\, with full time jobs and a passion for riding their bicycle. Racers range in age from 13 to 75. Approximately 50 % of the racers are from outside the US. About 18% of the racers are women. \nEvery year there are racers from at least 20 countries. Over 35 countries\, from six continents\, have been represented over the 35-year history of the race. \nWhen asked why? Some might echo George Mallory’s sentiment about Mt. Everest\, “Because it’s there!” \nFor most racers the why is not quite so simple. Reasons include raising money for a charitable cause\, winning a division\, setting a record\, seeing the country\, sharing an experience with friends\, adding their name to the distinguished roster of finishers\, etc. But\, overwhelmingly most people race RAAM simply to have fun and challenge themselves. \nGiving Back \nRAAM is an outstanding platform for raising money for charitable causes. It is rare that an event open to all-comers\, is so challenging and has such high media coverage year round. It is these unique characteristics combined that allow racers dedicated to their cause can leverage off of. Also\, unlike many events\, racers have the option of which cause(s) they want to raise money for\, or opt not to\, it is not required. Racers annually raise collectively in excess of $2 million for a wide range of charitable causes. \nThis Ain’t No Tour \nRAAM is a race! But\, unlike the three great Europeon Grand Tours (Tour de France\, Vuelta a Espana and Giro de Italia)\, RAAM is not a stage race. RAAM is one continual stage\, once the clock starts it does not stop until the finish line. It is the world’s longest time trial…the ultimate race of truth. \nRAAM is about 30% longer than the Tour de France. Moreover\, racers must complete the distance in roughly half the time\, with no rest days. \nRAAM is not limited to professional cyclists. RAAM is open to professional and amateur athletes alike. While solo racers must qualify to compete\, anyone may organize a team and race. \nRacers must cycle 3000 miles\, across 12 states\, and climb over 170\,000 vertical feet. Team racers have a maximum of nine days but most finish in about seven and a half with the fastest in just over 5 days. Solo racers have a maximum of 12 days to complete the race\, most finishing in 11 days with the fastest finishing in under 8 days. \nRace Across America 2020 (RAAM) is one of the most respected and longest running ultra-endurance events in the world. RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community as well.\nThere is no other race in the world like RAAM. There is no race that combines the distance\, terrain and weather; no other event that tests a team’s spirit from beginning to end. The Race inspires everyone who has been a part of it – racer\, crew\, staff and fans alike. RAAM is the true test of speed\, endurance\, strength and camaraderie\, the ideal combination of work and play. \nLeah would like to express intense gratitude to her Race Across America 2020 sponsors\, without whom this amazing race would not be possible: \nShimano \n \nJohn Howard Performance Sports \n \n  \nKHS Bicycles \n \n  \nFresh Air Concepts  \n \nPactimo Clothing \n \nHammer Nutrition \n \nD-Curve Optics \n \nEpic Ride Weather  \n \nProhands \n \nContinental Tires   \n \nFirma Wear \n \nBryton Sport \n \nCatalyst Kinetics Group \n \nSwitch4Good

SUMMARY:Race Across America 2019
DESCRIPTION:Race Across America – The World’s Toughest Bicycle Race \nOn Tuesday\, June 11\, RAAM 2019’s solo riders will start from the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside\, California (the teams start on Saturday\, June 15). \nStart: Oceanside\, California\, at the Oceanside Pier\nFinish: Annapolis\, Maryland\, at the City Dock \nDistance: 3000 miles \nProjected 2019 Race Start Dates\nSOLO Start: Tuesday\, June 11\, 2019\nTEAM Start: Saturday\, June 15\, 2019 \nAt 50 Years old\, Leah Goldstein has come out of retirement to challenge the Race Across America overall record. \nLeah is proud to be teaming up with Venture Training of Vernon\, B.C. as her charitable choice for Race Across America 2019. Venture Training is Greater Vernon’s ‘pioneer agency’; proudly supporting adults with developmental disabilities with social\, educational and vocational skill building since 1955. With a progressive Board of Directors and more than 150 qualified staff members\, Venture Training continues to lead the way as we celebrate 63 years supporting local people. They provide services for more than 200 participants; currently offering 16 distinctive interactive programs which empower individuals to use their strengths with ‘hands on’ skill building opportunities to enrich the quality of their life \nThis Ain’t No Tour \nRAAM is a race! \nRace Across America (RAAM) is one of the most respected and longest running ultra-endurance events in the world. RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community as well. \nThere is no other race in the world like RAAM. \nLeah would like to express intense gratitude to her Race Across America 2019 sponsors\, without whom this amazing race would not be possible: \nShimano \nJohn Howard Performance Sports \nKHS Bicycles \nFresh Air Concepts  \nPactimo Clothing \nHammer Nutrition \nD-Curve Optics \nEpic Ride Weather \nProhands \nContinental Tires   \nFirma Wear

SUMMARY:Venture Adventure - Vernon's Amazing Race
DESCRIPTION:Venture Adventure – Vernon’s Amazing Race is looking for 30 teams of four to participate in the May 11 event.\nIf you have ever watched “The Amazing Race” on television\, you will have a pretty good idea about how Venture Adventure works. Teams progress from station to station where they will need to successfully complete a task before proceeding to the next station. The challenges will be as varied as the sponsors that design them: you may be solving a puzzle at one station then moving on to test your balance or fitness at the next station. \nTeams are encouraged to pick a catchy team name and dress correspondingly. Whether your team is in the “fit” or the “fun” division\, you will have the chance to win some awesome prizes! \nOnce you have completed all the stations\, grab your teammates and head over to the Marten Brewing Beer Gardens to enjoy some great music\, food and refreshments. \nOne of the top cyclists in the world wants people to join her on an adventure.\nLeah Goldstein\, a world-class cyclist\, will be at the event that will raise money for Venture Training‘s Cycle Cycle program. \nGoldstein is participating in Race Across America and has teamed up with Vernon’s Venture Training as a charity of choice. \nLori Moger\, No Finish Line Living is organizing the Vernon event for Goldstein\, who has an autistic nephew and was so impressed with Venture Training she wanted to team up with them. \nMoger said teams of four can compete in the fit or fun divisions. \n“They will go from station to station\, which will each have a different sponsor\, competing in challenges at each one and it could be anything from a fitness challenge to a puzzle to a brain teaser\, balance beam – anything to test the limits of what your team can bring\,” said Moger\, adding registration is open and there is only room for 30 teams. \nThere is a $100 minimum per team\, but there will be a prize for the team that brings in the most money. \nWhile there is no restriction on the male/female split of teams\, Moger does suggest they encompass a range of abilities. \nMore information\, registration and pledge sheets\, click here. \nBy 17\, Goldstein was the world kickboxing champion. Shortly thereafter\, she enlisted in the Israeli military and became one of the few female instructors of the elite commando division\, specializing in krav maga. She then transitioned into a special forces unit\, combating terrorism and violent crime. \nThe extreme lifestyle of the secret police eventually took its toll\, and she found her salvation on a bicycle. \nShe convinced Israel to release her\, as she pursued a brilliant 10-year career as a professional cyclist in Europe and North America – and eventually to the longest single stage race in the world\, Race Across America. \nThanks to Castanet News Vernon for this event info.

SUMMARY:2018 Tammy Moyer Woman of Worth Awards
DESCRIPTION:Nominating a woman you know is one of the most powerful ways to appreciate and acknowledge her\, in a way that lets her know she MATTERS. Your nomination is something she will remember and be impacted by forever.\nThe Awards were originally created to support the collaboration\, celebration\, connection and empowerment of women. They were renamed the Tammy Moyer Woman Of Worth Awards to honour the memory of an extraordinary woman. Tammy was my dear friend and the morning anchor on News1130. She was a passionate supporter of women’s causes and WOW. Her sudden loss to pancreatic cancer in 2016 was a tragic blow to all who knew her\, especially her 7-year-old son as she was a single mom. The Awards now allow Tammy’s name to live on in a way that was meaningful to her\, and also provides ongoing financial support to the Trust that was established for her son to secure his future. \nWe’re honoured to welcome back Joanna Mileos and Steve Darling as co- Master of Ceremonies this year.  \nBREAKING NEWS: World champion Leah Goldstein will keynote at the awards! You can hear a pin drop as she knocks you out of orbit with\, “No Limits: The Heart\, Soul and Mindset of a Champion”. See registration page for details. \nEarly Bird Tickets available until February 10th\, 2019.
