HooDoo500 Ultra Endurance Cycling Race
August 24, 2024 @ 5:00 am - August 25, 2024 @ 7:42 pm
The HooDoo500 Ultra Endurance Cycling Race!
That HOODOO Ultra Endurance Cycling race is some kinda VOODOO! Here’s why…
I can’t get it outta my head!
The Planet Ultra HooDoo500 starts for me this Saturday, August 24th at 5am. I left home yesterday for St. George, Utah.
This is the race I did last year where I crashed. I was also very sick before the race so it was a disaster before I even started.
After doing the 100% self supported @transambikenonstop in June, I’m feeling like I’m
ready for another ultra endurance cycling challenge and will be riding Hoodoo as a “Voyager” self supported cyclist.
I hold the women’s record at 37hrs but that’s with a crew. It will be interesting to see the difference with no crew.
This course is incredibly hilly and also breathtakingly beautiful. One of the other reasons it’s got such a hold on me!
Not a single inch of the route is repeated. The scenery is amazing. The route goes through, around or by three National Parks: Zion, Bryce and Capitol Reef; three National Monuments: Pipe Springs, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Cedar Breaks; countless Utah state parks. ⛰️
Other than the very short stretches of road getting in and out of St. George and Cedar City, and the ten or so miles before Panguitch, traffic on the route is virtually non-existent.
Road conditions are awesome! Utah takes amazing care of their roads and pavement!
The heat can be an issue, but Sat & Sun are slated for 31 and 32, which is cooler than they weather I experienced at the TransAm Nonstop
Race in June.
Once again, I want to send out massive thanks to my amazing sponsors… I couldn’t do this without you!
KHS Bicycles , Vision , FULL SPEED AHEAD, Kenda Tires USA , D·CURVE OPTICS, HAMMER NUTRITION , Pactimo , Epic Ride Weather and Shimano-Road. I feel very lucky working with the best in the industry.
UPDATE HooDoo500 Ultra Endurance Cycling Results:
Leah Goldstein: 1st Place Voyager Female, smashing the course record by over 8 hours; 3rd place Voyager overall, World Ultra-Cycling Association North American Solo Self-Supported Female Champion. 39 hours 41 minutes.
